Arrived from USA to the island 3 months ago and although I have been driving for many years there I am now required to take the tests  here on Mallorca to display knowledge and skill. I understand it is highly advised to hire an instructor for preparation. Therefore, I am asking for advise on what school in or near Cala Millor would be best.

I’m Canadian and have been in Mallorca for three years. Although I’ve been driving for years since I was a teenager my Canadian driving licence is not valid here either. I do not speak Spanish and was told that all or part of the written  test had to be done in Spanish. I can’t helo you with your question because I’m in Port de Pollenca but I would sure like to know how you make out with this. Please post any information you receive as I would really like to pursue this further as well. This has been the major problem for me living here noon Mallorca.  I want back the independence of having a vehicle and being able to drive. I look forward to hearing how you make out.  Please share any  information you might receive which will be much appreciated. I’m hearing so many conflicting remarks on this to date that I’ve been just putting up with not driving. I wish you the best of luck.

I am in a similar situation in that my Spanish is not adequate to take the "theory" portion of the test process. Fortunately for me my wife is from Colombia and speaks Spanish as her native tongue. She will accompany me and serve as an enterpretor. This sounds like a necessary step for yourself, to ask a friend who you have met that speaks Spanish to accompany you for the verbal and/or written portion of the test. My wife has family in the area who know of a good driver training class in nearby Porto Cristo which I will likely attend since locals in Cala Millor do not speak well of trainer here. There is a good deal of information online, just google the subject and you can sort out specifics. I will keep in touch with update on my progress.

Hi Pedro… your reply was helpful and has given me reason for thought. I didn’t know there was a possibility of allowing a Spanish speaking person to accompany me for the “theory” etc part of the test. This might help for sure. Thanks again and will check this out.  Keep me informed on how you make out.
