Will the European Health Card remain valid if travelling to Mallorca from Britain against Government advice?

Hi. Apologies if this subject has been raised before but we are due to travel to our house in Pollenca in September and have some concerns about health insurance. We realise that our policy will not be valid as long as the islands are on the British Foreign Office list as "Essential Travel Only" but we have had an indication that the EHIC cards may also not be accepted by all authorities in these circumstances.

If we could get reassurance that they will be accepted in Mallorca we would feel much more confident.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Hi Peter

We too have a place in Pollenca and have flights to travel out in September. I previously checked www.gov.uk and got this:

"You can use a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in Spain until the end of 2020.

If you’re visiting Spain on 31 December 2020, you can continue to use your EHIC until the end of your visit to Spain.

An EHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance. Make sure you have both before you travel."

Hope that helps.

Do you have travel insurance because ours is not valid when there is a FCA advisory against travelling?

Cheers

Nick

Thanks Nick

Our travel insurance is also invalid.

Our broker raised some doubt as to whether all countries would accept the EHIC card if travel was against government advice but we have nothing definitive on this and we were keen to see if anyone had any experience .

As things stand it looks like we will be travelling out and hoping for the best.

Good luck!

Peter
